The Deakin Defence Conference is a premier national forum for researchers, industry partners, and Defence professionals interested in how technological innovation and human-centred research can enhance Australia’s Defence capability.
DDC 2026 will be hosted by Deakin University with funding from the US Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) / Asian Office of Aerospace Research and Development (AOARD). It will be held from 30 to 31 March, with a potential tour day on 1 April 2026 at the Deakin University Downtown, Melbourne.
The theme for DDC 2026 is “Advancing Defence Capabilities Through Asymmetric Technologies and Human Factors Research.”
In Defence, a capability is the power to achieve an effect-where and when it is required, for as long as it is required. The Deakin Defence Conference 2026 focuses on how advanced and asymmetric technologies can transform the future of Defence capability, with a focus on enhancing human effectiveness. Through interdisciplinary approaches grounded in AI and technological innovation, the conference showcases advance in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, cyber technologies, and other enabling innovations that strengthen the connection between technological progress and human capability. Together, these efforts aim to drive greater adaptability, resilience, and strategic advantage across all Defence domains.
